Terms of Use

Article 1 (Scope)

These Terms set out the conditions for using TaxFreeJP.com (the "Site"). They apply to everyone who views or uses the Site (each a "User").

If separate terms of use are specified for particular content on the Site, those terms form part of these Terms. If there is a conflict between these Terms and such separate terms, the separate terms take precedence.

Article 2 (Purpose and Nature of the Site)

The Site is operated to provide general and practical information about Japan's consumption tax exemption system (Refund Method) for foreign visitors to Japan and similar travelers. The Site does not act as an agent for the sale of specific products or for customs procedures, and does not provide professional advice or opinions on tax or legal matters.

The operator of the Site does not represent or act on behalf of administrative agencies such as the National Tax Agency and Customs, individual tax-free shops, or refund agent companies. Users are solely responsible for deciding whether a particular purchase, tax-free procedure, or refund application is permitted.

Article 3 (Published Information and Disclaimer of Warranties)

The information published on the Site is prepared with great care based on publicly available materials, government guidelines, and similar sources. However, due to legal amendments, changes in how individual operators run their services, and other reasons, the published content may not be current, complete, or comprehensive.

1. The operator of the Site makes no warranty of any kind, express or implied, as to the accuracy or usefulness of the published information or its fitness for any particular purpose.
2. Published information may be changed, corrected, or deleted without prior notice.
3. When carrying out actual procedures, the latest official announcements from the competent customs office, relevant ministries, and similar bodies always take precedence.

Article 4 (Disclaimer)

The operator of the Site is not liable for any damage incurred by a User in connection with use of, or inability to use, the Site (including, but not limited to, loss from tax-free status not being applied, a refund not being completed, or delays).

If a User is taken to another website through a link, banner, or similar on the Site, the operator of the Site is not liable for the information, services, or other content provided on the destination site.

Article 5 (Prohibited Acts)

When using the Site, Users must not engage in any of the following acts.

1. Acts that violate the law or public order and morals, or that are likely to do so
2. Acts that interfere with the operation or maintenance of the Site, or that place an excessive load on the network or servers
3. Copying, reproducing, publicly transmitting, adapting, or altering content published on the Site without prior permission
4. Acts that infringe the intellectual property rights, reputation, privacy, or any other rights of the operator of the Site, other Users, or third parties
5. Any other act that the operator of the Site reasonably judges to be inappropriate

Article 6 (Intellectual Property Rights)

Copyright and other intellectual property rights in all text, images, photographs, designs, logos, layouts, and other elements that make up the Site belong to the operator of the Site or to the third parties who lawfully hold those rights. Using any of these without permission (including reproduction and redistribution) is strictly prohibited, except where copyright law expressly permits it, such as for private use.

Article 7 (Changes to, Suspension of, and Termination of the Service)

The operator of the Site may, without prior notice to Users, change all or part of the content of the Site, or temporarily suspend or permanently terminate it for unavoidable reasons such as maintenance or natural disasters. The operator of the Site is not liable even if a User suffers damage as a result.

Article 8 (Changes to These Terms)

The operator of the Site may revise these Terms at any time in response to amendments to laws and changes in social conditions. The revised Terms take effect from the time they are posted on the Site.

Article 9 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. For any dispute arising between the operator of the Site and a User in connection with use of the Site, the district court or summary court with jurisdiction over the location of the operator of the Site shall be the exclusive court of first instance by agreement.
